Description of Phase (1) Works. – The Phase (1) works consist of the construction of the new holes on the former Jennings land . It includes Hole (7), Holes (12), (13), & (14) and Holes (8) which replaces the old 8th hole. ( See the Option (C) drawing in the Clubhouse or on the Club’s website)
Works Programme.
The contractor’s programme included for the completion of all the Phase (1) works by the end of July . While most of the earthworks will be complete by that date the seeding of the new holes will be delayed by the current drought conditions.
Progress to Date. Works on the 7th, 8th, 12th and 13th holes are substantially complete.
Work on the 14th hole is 60% complete and works on this was delayed while we were waiting for the Planning Authority’s approval to the “Ha-Ha” wall details.

Programme for remainder of 2018. The seeding of the new holes will have to await the hollow tining of the existing holes as our agronomist has advised that the material recovered through this process should be mixed with the new seeding material to give the optimum results. This has been deferred to the 23rd. July to allow for the Lady’s Captain’s Prize and open week. Works have also to be carried out on the existing pumping and irrigation system to cope with the increased demand. Provided the drought comes to an end within the next couple of weeks it will be possible to complete the seeding of the new holes and allow for the “grow-in” to take place over Autumn and Winter period so that the new holes will be ready for play for next year’s golf season.
Many Thanks,
John Mc Hale,
Club Captain
