An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, receives Honorary Membership


 In March 2011, Castlebar man Enda Kenny as leader of the Fine Gael party, was elected Taoiseach of Ireland in Dáil Eireann.  To honour this achievement the committee of Castlebar Golf Club, by unanimous decision, voted to bestow Honorary Life Membership on Mr. Kenny, a long time member of the club.
It was a very proud night for Castlebar Golf Club  when the Taoiseach visited the club on Saturday 29th October 2011 and was presented with Honorary Membership by the Captain, Sean Smyth, and the committee of the club.
A large number of people turned out to welcome the Taoiseach and to show the pride the members have that one of our members has achieved the highest office in the land.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Kenny thanked the club and its captain and committee and said it was a huge honour for him to be made Honorary Member.
